Bicycle safety checklist
Is your bike ready to ride? (The A-B-C Checklist)
Before you head out on a ride, you should always take a few minutes to quickly check some very important areas on your bicycle that may require attention. A little preventative maintenance will not only help ensure a safe ride but may also prevent a major repair later.
-
"A" is for AIR:
Check your tires and wheels. Do the tires have enough air? Broken or loose spokes? Badly worn tread or sidewalls of the tire? Ensure the nuts or quick release levers are tight.
-
"B" is for BRAKES:
Check the brakes. Are the brake levers far enough from the handlebars (at least two finger widths apart)? Are the brake levers easy enough to reach and pull? Are the brake pads touching the rims? Are the brake pads worn? Are the cables worn or frayed?
